Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing®(SE) is a naturalistic body based approach to the resolution and healing of trauma. It was developed by Peter Levine over decades of research and study as a method of restoring balance to the nervous system and resolving the effects of traumatic experiences. The SE model considers that traditional talk therapy doesn’t take into account the place where trauma is most often held: the body.

Moving at a gentle pace and through a collaborative process SE facilitates the self completion of protective responses and thwarted survival energy, shifting us out of defense mode and into presence. This work allows for a greater capacity to handle stress and for a broader range of experience, which allows for a more embodied and connected way of being.
